英文摘要
This project will initiate a first time collaboration between the Willerth laboratory at the University of Victoria**and Morphocell Technologies located in Quebec. Morphocell Technologies is a regenerative medicine company focused on the development and commercialization of stem cell therapies and engineered tissues aimed at treating liver diseases. In particular, this project will enable further characterization and optimization of their ReLiver product - which consists of functional liver tissues derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) known as organoids. The ReLiver product consists hiPSC-derived liver tissues encapsulated inside of a poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) coating that promotes biocomptability. This project will characterize the properties, including pore size, using scanning electron microscopy and will investigate alternative biomaterials formulations to improve the coating properties. Dr. Willerth has over 15 years of experience in the fields of biomaterials and stem cell-based tissue engineering, making her a logical partner for this project.******
