The Gold Sniffer is a visible light optical device that can detect gold and other minerals with a single 90 second measurement on avariety of samples such as drill core, crushed rock, pulps, sand and similar materials. The device detects micron-sized gold, goldalloys, pyrite, chalcopyrite, and other minerals. It determines metal and mineral concentrations, particle size and shape, andmineral association by taking a set of 20 MP digital pictures of a 3 mm x 4.5 mm area which is analyzed with a proprietaryalgorithm that detects particles as small as 1.6 microns. The project will investigate how the Gold Sniffer can measure the two-dimensional surface concentration of gold alloys andminerals, and use this information to provide an estimate of the metal and mineral concentrations of a sample. If it can bedemonstrated that the Gold Sniffer can provide useful estimates of the concentrations of metals such as gold, copper, zinc, andmolybdenum, the company will be able to sell their products and services to the mining and mineral exploration industries bydemonstrating to customers the capabilities of the Gold Sniffer. The Gold Sniffer measurements can be used to provideexploration geologists with data in the field that will increase the efficiency of exploration programs, to provide data to geologistsand mining engineers at the mining face that will increase the efficiency of mining, and to provide data about the composition ofore to metallurgists that will facilitate optimization to increase metal recovery from mineral processing.
