Northern College is growing its capacity to provide applied research and business support service to the mining industry through our Innovation Hub. The Product Validations and Technology Enhancements in Mining project will allow the Innovation Hub to hire an additional support person to assist with several planned applied research projects. These projects will focus on helping new and existing Small to Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) test, validate, and potentially commercialize new or enhanced mining technologies. We believe that improving the availability, efficacy, and functionality of mining technologies will benefit our catchment area by creating jobs, improving workplace safety, and helping SMEs realize efficiencies in their businesses. This, in turn, will help local and regional SMEs become more sustainable and competitive in the global mining marketplace.
