The research program is related to the research and development of fuel cell electrochemical power sources and processes to create clean and sustainable energy and a sustainable environment. The program will continue to focus on fuel cell technology which is an important energy conversion device in many clean energy pathways. The objectives for the research program will be to close significant technical gaps, provide a basis for future fuel cell technology, and to simplify the overall system and energy pathway for the fuel cell in clean energy processes. In addition the research program will look at opportunities to integrate electrochemical power sources and use them for water purification and hydrogen production. Canada continues to be one of the world leaders in the research and development of fuel cell and hydrogen technology, and is in an excellent position to benefit from this leadership and exploit it.
