Energy and water are two of the most important challenges facing humanity today. It is estimated that by the middle of the 21st century we will need to double energy production and water use. Our research at UBC is focused on greening existing processes and introducing new innovative solutions to energy and water. The research is mainly at the intersection of water treatment, carbon dioxide conversion and mitigation, and the production of chemicals and energy. Our research program focuses on electrochemical and photochemical devices, energy conversion and storage materials, and processes to create clean and sustainable energy and water.
