Signals acquired non-invasively from humans possess important information
about underlying physiological phenomenon. Processing and analysis of these biomedical
signals will lead to better computer-aided diagnosis, monitoring and diagnostic tools, and will greatly help the clinical community in prognosis, treatment and prevention of health disorders. The CRC nominee in Biomedical Signal Analysis proposes to develop advanced and innovative signal analysis routines for enhancement of biomedical signals, and extraction of information rich features from sparse domains of the signals. The proposed signal analysis theories could be applied in a variety of applications, and the specific focus of the nominee will be in cardiovascular and assistive technologies. The proposed application has great potential to improve the quality of health and living of the Canadian population.
