英文摘要
The proposed research will investigate the role of each hemisphere in processing/translating visual and haptic information for prehension. Furthermore, these studies will help delineate the relationship between sensorimotor and cognitive functions. My research has the potential to: 1) provide insight into the mechanisms responsible for hand dominance and language lateralization, 2) explain motor, sensory, and cognitive abnormalities both during development and after right- or left-hemisphere damage, 3) develop innovative and effective interventions tailored to those populations, and 4) highlight possible advantages and limitations in the design of different human-machine interfaces.
