My proposed research program will continue to investigate the role of vision and haptics in the production of reaching and grasping. I am particularly interested in understanding how these actions are shaped and influenced by hemispheric functional specialization. My goal for the next five years is to investigate the role of each hemisphere in processing/translating visual and haptic information for prehension. Furthermore, my research program will help delineate the relationship between sensorimotor and other skilled motor actions such as speech. The long-term goal is to refine our understanding of the general principles underlying cerebral asymmetry, organization, and function.
