Analog to digital converters (ADCs) are the interface between physical reality and the digital world and ADCs with very high speed combined with high resolution are a key ingredient driving progress in high-speed telecommunication and high-resolution imaging among may others. They are also essential for interfacing emerging quantum information processing devices with classical electronics.****However, high speed ADCs, due to their complex design, typically generate spurious signals several orders of magnitude stronger than their resolution would theoretically permit. The goal of this project is to remove spurious signals numerically to make use of the full resolution of the ADC and thereby recover the input signal with the highest possible fidelity. To reach this goal we will use expertise at Institut Quantique of Université de Sherbrooke on the use of high-speed high resolution ADCs for quantum measurements. In these measurements we use high-speed numerical data analysis algorithms on the output signal of ADCs to extract quantum correlations from large amounts of noisy data. In this project we will adapt these algorithms to extract ADC imperfections instead of quantum correlations. ****We will work in close collaboration with Alazar Technologies which uses high speed ADCs in their digitizers to convert analog signals and stream them into computer memory or onto a graphics card where the signals can be treated digitally. This versatile system will make this this improved ADC resolution available for many applications. **********
