We will collaborate in this project with a ship design company that designs cargo ships for Canadian and**international markets. Structural design is essential part of their work, requiring significant amount of**man-hours. Recent developments of academic analysis tools could allow them to be more time efficient, saving**money and improving quality of designs (time savings in analysis allowing more opportunity for better decision**making). Essentially, this would increase the efficiency of the company to stay ahead of the competition. We**aim to explore benefits of using the latest computational tools involving stress/failure analysis and optimization**to assist in the structural design.
