Ananda Devices is a Montreal based SME dedicated to the development and manufacturing of**microfluidic/organ-on-a-chip devices to increase reproducibility and efficiency of cellular assays. Ananda**Devices' proprietary Neuro-MFD offers a more efficient model to test drugs targeting neurodegenerative**diseases in vitro.**Current generation of Neuro-MFD can only test one drug per experiment and larger labs and the**biopharmaceutical industry need to test thousands of drugs. Ananda Devices aims to develop a novel device**(i.e., HT-Neuro-MFD) that can be adapted to automate the drug testing process.**Partnering with Dr. David Juncker to scale the current advantages of the Neuro-MFD to an HT-Neuro-MFD,**Ananda Devices will benefit from scientific, engineering and technical expertise and tools to develop an**innovative product to respond to the market's demand to accelerate drug discovery in neurological diseases.**The activities detailed in this Project will benefit Canada in a variety of ways:**-Technology: The proposed innovative research will train personnel in the areas of bioengineering,**neuroscience, and microfluidic devices to ensure that Canada remains a leader in these cutting-edge fields.**-Export: Over 80% of Ananda Devices's revenue results from export sales, thereby putting Canada at the**forefront of these innovations has the potential to benefit all Canadians economically and advance the output of**Canadian intellectual property.**-Health: The research will ultimately contribute to the development of new drugs that treat neurodegenerative**diseases, such as Parkinson, Alzheimer's, Multiple Sclerosis and ALS.
