Electrified vehicle (EV) technologies has the potential to offer significant fuel economy improvements and reduction in green house gas emissions without sacrificing consumer requirements for safety, comfort, performance and utility. The main objective of this research proposal is to exceed current standards for EV component technologies and to take existing technologies beyond what the original automotive equipment and component manufacturers and suppliers are currently developing for implementation in the near-term. The research will address the most challenging obstacles for EV technologies, resulting in significant improvements and production implementable solutions in the areas of cost, drivability, emissions, fuel economy and performance.
