Development and evaluation of novel pallets

Corruven Canada Inc. is a New Brunswick based company that is interested in developing alternative pallet solutions to solid wood pallets fabricated by companies such as CHEP and PECO. In an effort to make lighter, cheaper pallets from wood-based composite products, Corruven has developed a set of new prototype pallets solutions based on its CorrSheild panel technology which consists of layers of veneer and paper pressed into a corrugated panel. These prototypes use the CorrShield material in a number of different configurations as runners and blocks in the construction of the pallet. The performance of the prototype pallets will be compared with a standard solid wood pallet currently available on the market. The prototype pallets will be evaluated by the Wood Composites Group at UBC.
