项目摘要

Businesses and schools worldwide make use of digital projectors and white boards to convey information in**meetings and classrooms. SmartBoards are interactive whiteboards that merge these two technologies. A**drawback is that relying on projector technology to function correctly can cause presenters to end up standing**between projector and screen, interfering with projection when they wish to interact directly with the board. To**eliminate this problem, the team of QuirkLogic has developed a large-format interactive e-Ink display that does**not rely on projection. A drawback of e-Ink display is their comparatively lower resolution: many fonts do not**display as well.**The purpose of this Engage project is to design and evaluate proprietary fonts to display text on a large-format**e-Ink display, particularly for presentations in boardrooms and classrooms. The e-Ink display is akin to that**used by e-Readers, but in a larger format like a flipchart or digital projector, as currently used in boardrooms.**Our goal of this is to develop and evaluate a font that is appealing and easy to read in these settings. Here one**needs to take into account the limited number of pixels per square inch, the resolution of the e-Ink display, and**the limits of the user's visual system in a typical reading environment.
