Angstrom Engineering Inc. is a Canadian company which has been providing high-quality physical vapour**deposition (PVD) and chemical vapour deposition (CVD) machines to the global research community since**1992. Recently, Angstrom has sought to improve their products by gaining a better understanding of how they**will be applied to the specific science and engineering problems facing the research community. By partnering**with experts within the Canadian academic research community and hiring highly qualified personnel -**including many PhD level scientists educated at Canadian universities - Angstrom has realized a significant**improvement in product performance across a wide variety of applications. Angstrom is currently investigating**a new and exciting technology - quantum computing - and how their systems can support research and**development in this area. One particularly important feature of quantum computing is the superconducting**quantum bit (qubit), the fabrication of which requires utilizing a PVD process to create a structure known as a**Josephson junction. Angstrom is eager to optimize the performance of its PVD systems in creating Josephson**junctions. However, Angstrom does not currently have the infrastructure or expertise required to guide these**development efforts. Angstrom is seeking to partner with Dr. Christopher Wilson and the Institute for Quantum**Computing (IQC) - a world leading facility conveniently located at the nearby University of Waterloo - to**provide the technical guidance and appropriate facilities that will be required to make this development effort**successful.
