With data collected from every corner of our society, we are facing big data challenges: how to efficiently and securely deal with increasing data volume, velocity, and variety, with the goal of empowering people and our society? Addressing these challenges from an information theoretic perspective, the proposed research will explore novel methods for efficiently representing big data, develop new tools for enabling big data analytics, and propose advanced security concepts/protocols for protecting big data. Major achievements will include advanced coding paradigms and theories, new key security concepts, and novel algorithms and protocols for enabling big data analytics, compression, and protection.
