A cross-layer optimization framework for coded wireless video multicast

It is envisioned that the existing real-time video multicast services will be extended to and offered in wireless environments due to the emergence of broadband wireless access (BWA) technologies such as IEEE 802.16 and Long Term Evolution (LTE). The demand for real-time wireless video multicast services will drive the growth of future carrier networks while pushing bandwidth and accessibility limits. However, to enable a reliable and efficient video multicast service over BWA networks, there are a couple of legacy problems including video quality loss due to packet loss and multi user channel diversity that need to be carefully addressed and solved.
