项目摘要

Aircraft manufacturing requires precision, and with new technology there is an opportunity for efficiency and cost reduction. Assembly of the wings to the fuselage is a time-consuming process, and it has challenges for monitoring and costs. iSAC Systems Inc. is a leader in the field of Internet of Things (IoT) and predictive big data analytics. The iSAC Systems Inc. team has begun the development of a solution to improve the efficiency of aircraft wing installation alignment by using fiber optic sensors for constant monitoring. The iSAC Systems Inc. aircraft wing alignment system is called the iAWASystem, which is a sensor network composed ofmultiple sensor units, and it will improve the efficiency of the assembly process and provide consistentmonitoring data. There is a clear need for this solution as highlighted by the demand for 7,000+ aircraft by the major manufacturers in the coming 8-years, which translates to an increase of production by 30-40% (Altran). Stratview Research noted that the 'global aerospace & defense connecters market is projected to grow at acompounded annual growth rate of 5.1% in the next 3-5 years as of 2017, to reach a $1,713.2 US millionmarket size. In 2018, the Canadian aerospace industry produced $31 billion in revenue, and provided 89,500 jobs (ISEDC). The project results will help to improve efficiency and profitability of aircraft assembly.
