英文摘要
Most older adults show declines in cognitive functions such as attention and memory. In contrast, emotional and motivational capacities tend to stabilize, or even improve, with age. Little is known about whether older adults affective strengths can be tapped to reduce the impact of age-related cognitive deficits. The proposed research addresses this issue by investigating the effect of reward motivation on cognition and the brain across the lifespan. Exploring the potential for reward-based cognitive amelioration in older adults is an endeavour of critical societal relevance, given that adults aged 65 and up form the fastest-growing segment of Canadian society today.
