This research program aims to develop high-throughput microfluidic platforms for health applications that bridge the gap between academic research and real-world applications. There are two main research areas: scaffolds for biomimetic drug analysis through the creation of artificial lipid bilayers, and hospital-based miniaturised patient monitoring technologies. Both areas will focus on close collaborations with industry and healthcare organisations for the eventual commercialisation of these platforms. The impact of this research will be in the development of innovative, flexible techniques for drug discovery, and detailed on-line patient data for more accurate diagnosis and real-time care.
