Computational Neuroscience and Cognitive Neuroimaging

Brain research has been largely successful in elucidating the function of individual brain regions. The mechanisms by which information is exchanged between distinct areas remain enigmatic. The goal of my research is to significantly expand our understanding of cortical communication and complex brain network dynamics by (a) elucidating their neuronal mechanisms and (b) unravelling their role in cognition. To this end we will use a unique combination of invasive and non-invasive brain measurements and state-of-the-art neuro imaging, signal processing and artificial intelligence methods. Our findings will critically enhance our understanding of brain network function, and ultimately its breakdown in disorders.
