Agricultural yield and the quality of plant-based products directly depend on the efficacy of a seed to develop into an adult plant, for this plant to thrive under changing conditions, for its organs to grow in size, and for its reproductive organs to develop fruits and new seeds. The proposed program aims at analyzing how individual plant cells divide, how they grow into diverse shapes and how functional tissues are formed. The ultimate goal of this research program is to contribute to our understanding of how the genetic code is translated into tangible structural and functional traits in plants.
