英文摘要
Early detection of Alzheimers disease (AD) is essential, as treatments will be effective only before irreversible brain damage has occurred. Dr. Barense will apply recent neuroscience discoveries to develop sensitive markers for preclinical AD. Unlike other methods requiring a lumbar puncture or exposure to radiation, her measures are non-invasive. Thus, they can be administered repeatedly to asymptomatic individuals, enabling screening more of the population. Second, she will provide an effective, inexpensive, and non-invasive Digital Memory Augmentation device that externally mimics AD-compromised brain function. With her improved early detection measures, she will administer this intervention when it will be most effective.
