Urban transportation systems are vital to the growth of successful cities. New technological (e.g., automated vehicles) and service (e.g., ride-hailing) innovations in transportation are disrupting existing patterns of urban activities and mobility and will result in many new growth opportunities as well as challenges. The proposed research will explore and analyse the effects of disruptive technologies and services on urban mobility behaviour. The focus is on developing perpetual sensing systems at an urban scale, developing advanced behavioural prediction models, and tools that can be used to evaluate sustainability and viability of policy scenarios and optimize new technologies and services.
