Optimization of topical formulations for the treatment of basal cell carcinoma using the Feldan Shuttle technology

This ARD proposal aims at validating the efficiency of new proprietary drug formulations for the treatment of skin cancers. In this research project, a preclinical model will be used and validated to demonstrate the efficacy of the formulation as well as its superiority compared to non-formulated treatment. This project will strongly support the supporting partner by addressing technical questions in the context of skin-applied treatments that will enhance significantly their portfolio to support their economic growth and target markets. Moreover, these formulations may provide significant improvement for patients having basal cell carcinoma or the genetic syndrome termed Gorlin Syndrome where recurrent tumoral lesions are occurring leading to problematic need for serial surgery or systemic treatment with adverse effects.#(cr)#(lf)Cette demande de projet RDA vise à valider l'efficacité de nouvelles formulations pour le traitement des cancers de la peau. Dans ce projet de recherche, un modèle préclinique sera utilisé et validé pour démontrer l'efficacité de la formulation ainsi que sa supériorité par rapport au traitement non formulé. Ce projet soutiendra fortement le partenaire de soutien en abordant les questions techniques dans le contexte des traitements appliqués sur la peau qui amélioreront considérablement leur portefeuille pour soutenir leur croissance économique et leurs marchés cibles. De plus, ces formulations peuvent fournir une amélioration significative pour les patients atteints de carcinome basocellulaire ou du syndrome génétique appelé syndrome de Gorlin où des lésions tumorales récurrentes se produisent, ce qui entraîne un besoin problématique de chirurgie en série ou de traitement systémique avec des effets indésirables.
