Recent studies have highlighted the potential of dugs such as Raloxifene, Letrozole and cannabidiol (CBD) in the prevention and/or treatment of breast cancer. However, like the vast majority of potential new compounds, low aqueous solubility and oral bioavailability hinder the clinical development of effective formulations. Fortunately, such limitations could be overcome using drug delivery agents like hyaluronic acid. HA is an interesting agent as it is a macropolysaccharide naturally present in most tissues and body fluids. On the one hand, it plays important functions in physiologic and pathologic events and on the other it has also been extensively used as a drug carrier. Thus, the combination of HA with drugs like Raloxifene, Letrozole and CBD could lead to an improvement in their pharmacokinetic properties and enhanced their oral bioavailability. The main goal of this project is to determine the pharmacokinetic properties of new molecular complex of Raloxifene and Letrozole with HA alone or in combination with CBD to evaluate their potential in the development of new treatments for breast cancer. Animals will received an oral administration of the HA formulations and plasmatic concentrations will be compared to the naked drug.
