For the past 10 years Aceis Group has worked with the construction industry by providing a range of safetymanagement solutions and traffic control services geared towards optimizing safety and reducing on-sitehazards. Aceis Group is one of approximately 30 providers of the Ontario Workplace Safety and InsuranceBoard's (WSIB) Health and Safety Excellence Program. They are now looking to expand their suite of servicesto include the Automatic Traffic App with the goal to reduce the time and cost of generating traffic controlplans, and to improve safety outcomes for road construction projects. The proposed research project will usedocumented information to build a program which can produce the traffic control plan correctly, and overlayedon a map. This will provide a new level of support to road construction crews as the Automatic Traffic Appwill enable road construction crews to greatly reduce the amount of time spent creating traffic control plans inthe field.Through collaboration with Conestoga's SMART Centre, the research team will engage in the development of aweb-based solution that will allow for real-time traffic control plan design, traffic redirection prioritization, anda remote live construction alert at the road construction site. Software functionality will be greatly expanded toprovide layout suggestions based on a full range of road conditions, work area locations, and other parameters.Upon completion of this project a functional and tested prototype of the Automatic Traffic App will be ready toproceed to commercialization.
