英文摘要
Single spins embedded in solid-state materials represent the quintessential quantum-mechanical system, offering the possibility for next-generation information encoding as well as quantum-limited sensors. The proposed research program will explore mechanisms for linking individual spins in diamond using light, potentially providing a building block for a qualitatively new type of networked information processing. Simultaneously, the sensitivity of these spins to magnetic fields will be used to probe the local dynamics of ferromagnetic materials used in classical computing hardware. The outcomes could impact information technologies for both near- and long-term applications.
