英文摘要
Existing and emerging pollutants continue to be produced and released into the aquaticenvironment. These toxicants have been associated with adverse health conditions invertebrates, including mortality, developmental delays, malformations, diseases, and hormonal disruption. The research theme of this Chair is to employ state-of-the-art methodology in comparative endocrinology and ecotoxicology towards determining the molecular and cellular effects of chemicals with increased potential for altering aquatic animal physiology. Characterizing the mechanisms of action of toxicants is assisting Canada¿s risk assessors and policy makers to better manage the fate and risk of contaminants in our environment.
