Interface between two phases is omnipresent in natural, environmental and technological processes. Advances in interfacial sciences have created great positive impact on extraction and separation of natural resources, renewable energy, advanced analytics and functional material synthesis. The University of Alberta has the largest cluster of researchers in the country working in these areas. This Canada Chair program will bring unique expertise to this vital cluster. Dr Zhang is a pioneering researcher in Soft Matter at Interfaces. She will combine interdisciplinary approaches to significantly advance understanding of early stage precipitation and nanodroplets in the context of oil processing and analytic technology.
