As Canada Research Chair in Freshwater Ecology and Global Change, Dr. Irene Gregory-Eaves will reconstruct the history of changes in the lake food webs from southeastern Canada by analyzing sediment archives. Her team will apply classical approaches and advance the use of emerging environmental DNA methods. With these data, Dr. Gregory-Eaves¿ research group will address how multiple stressors have altered communities across 45 lakes; a unique level of spatio-temporal investigation. Overall, her work will bring forth an understanding of how landscape and climatic features, as well as human activities explain why different sites can respond in diverse ways.
