In Canada and globally, adequate amounts of safe drinking water are essential for communities to thrive. This program was the first to identify climate change-associated threats to water security as a result of deterioration and increased fluctuations in water quality from wildfires and floods. Both ¿grey¿ in-plant treatment and ¿green¿ forest management-based technologies are needed to address these challenges. Fundamental water science is being advanced to explain why they occur and how they can be mitigated. It is used to inform treatment technology innovation for adaptation, resilience, and decision-making to ensure Canadian drinking water security now and in the future.
