Small molecules govern many processes in the natural world, from interspecies communication, to chemical defense. This research program is developing new platforms to characterize the chemical and biological properties of compounds found in nature (i.e. ¿natural products¿). By understanding the distribution and function of these compounds, we can develop bioacvtive molecules as treatments for human diseases in a range of target areas including drug-resistant pathogenic bacteria, neglected infectious diseases, and cancer.
