Hydrophilic Nano patterned Surfaces for Macrophage Polarization and Drug Delivery

This project aims to explore the potential of nanopatterned hydrophilic surfaces for enhanced wound healing. Nanopatterned hydrophilic surfaces prepared using Cicada wing as template will be loaded with antibacterial and immunomodulatory peptides. The release of peptides from surfaces, their integrity and antibacterial properties will be studied in vitro, in simulated wound fluid. The peptide loaded nanopatterned surfaces will be cultured in the presence of macrophages and macrophage polarization capabilities of the surfaces, in the presence and absence of peptides will be studied. The nanopatterned surfaces with enhanced macrophage polarization capabilities and antibacterial efficacies in the presence and absence of peptide loading will be identified.
