英文摘要
This project aims to gain a better understanding of the effect of the pentafluorosulfanyl group on the lipophilicity and acid/base properties of alcohols and amines. In this international collaboration, Prof. Jean-François Paquin from Université Laval (Canada) propose to team up with Prof. Bruno Linclau from Ghent University (Belgium) to tackle this endeavour. Prof. Paquin's research group focuses on synthetic organofluorine chemistry with a particular expertise in the synthesis of SF5-containing compounds while Prof. Linclau's research is focused on investigating how fluorination of organic compounds can modify their physical properties, with a focus on hydrogen bonding, lipophilicity, and conformation. This collaboration brings together two highly regarded research groups in their respective field to work on a project that could lead to very impactful discoveries in drug discovery.
