英文摘要
SOTI Inc. develops world-leading technology that solves the unique challenges involved in managing, securing, supporting and tracking remote mobile and desktop computing devices. Today, more than 12,000customers around the world - in retail, manufacturing, healthcare, government, logistics and numerous other industries - rely on SOTI software products within the mobile device management industry. As the SOTI'splatform runs mostly on mobile devices, it is important for SOTI to look after the health of devices. Theproposed research in life cycle management of mobile devices will help in two ways: a) monitor the physical health of devices using built-in sensors of a smartphone and b) monitor network security and safeguard from malicious threats using on-device computing in the form of fog or edge computing. This proposed researchinvolves building on the strong relationship established between Sheridan College and SOTI Inc. throughprevious NSERC grants. We envision continuing the rich collaboration established with SOTI by developing innovative solutions for mobile devices in the area of life cycle management. The benefits of the proposedresearch include technology solutions that will showcase potential pathways to innovation andcommercialization for SOTI and their clients. The outcome of this research will provide SOTI's client withcomplete health information about their mobile devices so that it can perform optimally. Along with thephysical health, the proposed solution will also look after network security so clients can be aware of theirnetwork connectivity and potential threats. The benefits to the research discipline include new knowledge and expertise that can be disseminated and transferred to Canadian companies locally, regionally, provincially, and nationally.
