Clinical translation of ex vivo tissue printing (also known as bioprinting) faces several obstacles, including 1) the tedious and time-consuming process of reconstructing the target tissue using medical images and computer-aided design software, 2) the need for bioreactors that mimic human physiological conditions to facilitate tissue growth and maturation prior to implantation, and 3) the high risk of tissue contamination during manipulation and handling. In order to overcome these obstacles, we have created a portable bioprinting device capable of depositing numerous bioinks including photcrosslinkable, chemically curable, and nanocomposite bioinks with precise control over their spatiotemporal and physicochemical properties. In this proposal, we intend to commercialize this technology by doing a thorough market analysis to evaluate market size, possible customers, and market barriers.
