Information Exchange on Cancer Research with North American Countries.

1.癌基因研究2.病毒致癌3.肿瘤的促进与抑制4.诊断技术与癌症治疗在1991-1993财政年度，共有49名日本科学家被派往美国和加拿大参加癌基因年会、癌细胞会议、Keystone研讨会、乳头瘤病毒研讨会、AIDS和HTLV年会、AACR专题会议、肺癌生物学研讨会、DNA肿瘤病毒会议、普通癌症基金会国际研讨会、真核DNA复制冷泉港会议FASE夏季研究会、美国生物化学、分子生物学、免疫学等学会联席会议等，并走访大学和研究所交流信息，地理上远离发达国家的日本科学家感到信息滞后。正在进行或计划中的国际合作研究，需要就实验安排进行热烈的讨论。面对面的讨论也有助于国际上交换研究材料。因此，这笔研究经费不仅为日本受助者的研究发展做出了巨大贡献，也为接触者的研究发展做出了巨大贡献，该计划的个人成果已发表在科学期刊上，部分信息还发表在《生物科学新闻》上。

This research project is to exchange information between groups of high research activity in Japan and those in North American countries.The research fields of this project were as follows.1.Oncogene research2.Viral Oncogenesis3.Tumor promotion and suppression4.Diagnostic techniques and cancer therapyUnder this program from 1991 to 1993 fiscal year, total 49 Japanese scientists were sent to United State of America and Canada to attend Annual Meeting on oncogene, Cancer Cell meeting, Keystone Symposia, Papillomavirus Workshop, Annual Meeting on AIDS and HTLV, AACR Special Conferences, Workshop on Biology of Lung Cancer, DNA tumor virus meeting, General Morters Cancer Foundation International Symposium, Cold Spring Harbor Meeting on Eukaryotic DNA Replication, FASEB Summer Research Conference, The Joint-Meeting of American Societies of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Immunology, etc. and also visited universities and institutes to exchange information.Scientists in Japan, which is geologically remote from developed countries, feel informational retardation. International co-operative studies in progress or in planning, need lively discussions on experimental arrangements.Face-to-face discussions also facilitate international exchange of research materials. Therefore, this research grant contributed greatly not only for the development of the research of the Japanese grant recipients but also for the development of the research of those who came into touch with them.The individual results under this program have been published in scientific journals, and a part of the information were also published on the "Bioscience News".
