Effects of kampo medicines on drug-resistance mediated by ABC transporter, MDR-1

耐药性是治疗自身免疫性疾病和恶性肿瘤等疾病的一个问题。耐多药-1是药物转运体的一员，通过排斥细胞内药物引起耐药性。在本研究中，汉布药抑制了MDR-1的外排功能，提示对抗癌药物或甾体类抗炎药物的耐药可能被汉布药克服。现代和传统药物的结合应用有望对药物难治性疾病的治疗有所帮助。

Drug resistance is a problem in the treatment of diseases, such as autoimmune disease and malignancy. MDR-1, a member of drug transporters, causes drug resistance via the exclusion of intracellular drugs. In this study, the kampo medicines suppressed the efflux function of MDR-1, suggesting that the resistance to anticancer drugs or steroidal antiinflammatory drugs may be overcomes by the medicines. The combined application of modern and traditional medicines is expected to be useful for the treatment of drug-refractory diseases.
