Towards Sustainable Transport : Developing Indicator & Analysis Framework, and their Assessment

这一研究项目探索通往可持续交通的道路，特别强调制定能够评估相关交通政策的社会成本和模型等指标。从我们的分析中得到的经验证据证实了几个论点。尤其有趣的是，关于日本城市道路交通的社会成本的研究。结果表明：(1)随着城市规模的扩大，汽车的社会成本呈加速增长趋势；(2)新建道路对社会成本的降低没有贡献，而公共交通的贡献较小；(3)汽车使用价格明显偏低，导致过度消费和资源利用效率低下

This research project explores roads toward sustainable transport, with particular emphasis on developing indicators such as social costs and models which will be able to assess related transport policies. Several arguments are substantiated by empirical evidence from our analyses. Especially, interesting is the study regarding the social costs of the roadway transport in Japanese cities. The results indicate that(1) as the scale of the city increases, the social costs of the auto grow with accelerating speed ;(2) new roads do not contribute to a decrease in social costs, but public transport contributes slightly ;(3) automobile use is significantly underpriced, resulting in over-consumption and inefficient use of resources
