A database construction of arts of persuasion in English communication and its actual use in English learning

本研究从多模态的角度考察了英语演讲和会话中的说服艺术，并提取了其在词汇、句子和语篇结构、韵律和非言语行为等方面的特征。我们还从说话人和听话人的属性、人际关系和心理态度等方面进行了调查，从而构建了一个知识库，使我们能够搜索说服表达。在信息技术的帮助下，我们创造了多模态知识内容，旨在提高英语学习者有效说服的交际技能。

In this research, we examined multimodal aspects of arts of persuasion used in English speeches and conversations, and extracted the characteristics of lexicon, sentence and discourse structure, prosody and non-verbal behavior. We also investigated the aspects from viewpoint of properties of speaker and hearer, their interpersonal relationship and their mental attitudes, leading to the construction of a knowledge database which enables us to search for expressionsof persuasion. With the help of information technology, we created multimodal knowledgecontents for the purpose of improving English learners’communicative skills of effectivepersuasion.
