[0]: mailto: graysha@weffan.co
Fifty-three million tonnes of fibre are produced to make clothes that travel through complex and opaque global supply chains as part of a fashion industry that emits 1.2 billion tonnes of CO2 and consumes 98 million tonnes of non-renewable resources annually. However, 80% of a garment's environmental footprint is decided at the design stage. Graysha Audren founded Weffan to revolutionise how we design clothing using 3D woven garment technology to lower the fashion industry's carbon footprint, incorporating low-waste, on-demand, transparent, nearshore manufacturing.Next Steps allows [Graysha Audren][0] to explore Weffan's 3D garment weaving innovation applied to commercial and production ready 3D woven shirts. Weffan will focus on a new area of research and development into 3D woven shirt construction, offering a competitive alternative to current wasteful cut & sew manufacturing as part of its mission to create sustainable, competitive, and resilient production at an industrial scale. Weffan will create a catalogue of 3D shirt design components and specifications in order to secure a fashion brand collaboration, with a production run integrating Weffan's sustainable UK manufacturing partners. It's an opportunity to market-test Weffan's innovation in order to sustainably impact the fashion industry for people and planet. [0]: mailto:graysha@weffan.co
