Centered in materiality and making, this practice-based research will explore the potential of three dimensional cast glass as a canvas for mirroring. Textural, reflective surfaces within sculptural forms will entice and incorporate the viewer's gaze while prompting dialogues relating to self-consciousness and the historical, cultural and social significance of the mirror. By accessing this research, artists in the field will have greater control over surface quality and detail for mirroring applications specifically. Crafting an approach to reflective cast glass sculpture will be a model for layered aesthetic and philosophical analysis that shifts perspectives, creating new experiential possibilities.
