Research proposal: A comparison of the eastern provincial and central imperial numismatic representation of the Flavian imperial women

The primary area of study is the eastern provincial coinage of the Flavian imperial women. For example, coins produced by provincial mints of Asia Minor and Galatia-Cappadocia. Since my intended research question is comparative in nature it will be necessary to conduct a thorough survey of the central imperial coinage of the Flavian imperial women. Such a survey is necessary so that a clear categorisation of iconography can be formed for comparison. I am aware that the imperial representation of the Flavian imperial women has been previously discussed by scholars (Alexandridis 2010; Alexandridis 2020; D'Ambra 2013). However, further study of this area within this comparative context is necessary to highlight any significant differences or similarities within the provincial numismatic representation of the Flavian imperial women. Such information would provide valuable knowledge to a notably understudied area.
