This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Objective: The development of efficient macaque sperm cryopreservation would aid in successful propagation of germplasm through artificial insemination (AI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF) programs. Little is known regarding the fundamental cryobiology and biophysics of nonhuman primate sperm. The main objective of this project is to develop a clear understanding of the fundamental cryobiology of macaque sperm.
