XAS STUDIES OF THE NITROGENASE MOFE PROTEIN

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. To better understand the roles of the component protein interaction and nucleotide hydrolysis in electron transfer and substrate reduction, an ADP aluminum-tetrafluoride-stabilized Fe protein-MoFe protein complex is being studied using Mo K- and L-edge XAS. The data of the complex will be compared to those of the uncomplexed MoFe protein in solution and single crystal, which will provide base-line electronic and structural data.
