HETEROGENEITY AMONG HUMAN CD4+ T-CELL CLONES

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of these studies is to understand the immunobiology of asthma and allergic diseases. We will identify and examine mechanisms that down-modulate allergic immune responses in humans, and determine the cell types and molecules that participate in the protection against allergic inflammation. These studies involve using MCH class II-peptide tetramers and cDNA microarrays. In the near future, some subjects will be treated with allergen immunotherapy and the changes in immune responses will be monitored. In other studies, we are attempting to identify genes and their polymorphisms that are involved in causing allergy and asthma.
