Statistical methods in collaborative research

The collaborative research with intramural and extramural investigators has been fruitful. The work in collaboration with Dr. Miller described community-based testing sites for COVID19 was published in MMWR. The projects with Drs Rider and Miller from CRU focus on dermatomyositis, a rare inflammatory disease. We are now conducting a GWAS study of calcinosis in myositis patients, an association study of extended HLA haplotypes and rare muscle variants and myositis, and a study investigating relationship between blood molecular measurements (ND1, cell free DNA and GAPDH) and autoimmune diseases. I am working with Dr. Rider to put together a bench-to-bedside proposal in which effects of Omega3 fatty acid supplementation on dermatomyositis will be evaluated. In a collaborative project with Dr. Kleeberger we are studying the impact of variants in the mitochondrial genome on the risk of bronchopulmonary dysplasia in very preterm infants. I collaborated with researchers from Dr. Dixons lab at DNTP on projects that study effects of Cadmium exposure on nucleus migration patterns. In the work with Dr. Kana, a visitor scholar from Nigeria, we assessed the association between prenatal exposure to biomass fuel and birthweight using data from 2018 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey. Working with Dr. Garantziotis we studied the pattern of COVID antibodies overtime. We are preparing two manuscripts based on the collaborations with Xiaoling Lis and Stephanie Londons labs.The collaborative works with Dr. Savy from Dr. Williams lab in RDBL on calcium oscillation after fertilization in superovulated oocytes and with Dr. Gustafson from Dr. Copelands lab in GISBL on molecular dynamic simulation of SSBP1 variants have produced two publications.
