The overall theme/objective is to understand the link between N2O emissions, denitrification gene expression as determined by reverse transcription-real time PCR, differential total cellular protein expression analyzed via nano-liquid chromatography-MS/MS in pure cultures of Pseudomonas mandelii (soil denitrifier) and the bulk soil and the rhizosphere of wheat plants (proteomics will only be used in pure culture and pure culture in model rhizosphere studies).
