Mathematical optimization and operations research

The proposed research program is in Operations Research and is based on Optimization. Operations Research can be described as a scientific approach to real world problems. The basic notions of Optimization, (the science and mathematics of finding better solutions to the problems of interest) are inherent in many areas of Operations Research theory and practice. My research program involves the development of theory, design of algorithms and their analysis (to determine their key properties, including their computational complexity) and applications as well as large-scale, computational experiments. The applications arise in many branches of manufacturing, transportation, telecommunication systems as well as the service sectors. Some of the applications are in other scientific areas such as quantum computing. My research relies on and contributes to the knowledge discovered in industrial engineering and management sciences, computer science, mathematics and other mathematical sciences.
